In 1990 the then sporting director in Lyngby BK Kim Lyshøj saw his dream of an elite tournament for the best Scandinavian and international teams on the green pitches of Lyngby come true - Lyngby Cup was born.

The two features of the tournament had to be talent and elite. The tournament was conducted with the best players so they could be matched against each other as a perfect start to their respective tournaments - a start that unlike other similar tournaments should include matches played at full time - at full steam.

Many talents have since the first year tied their boots on the grounds on Lundtoftevej. From previous and current Danish international players like Thomas Gravesen, Stephan Andersen and Thomas Sørensen to international stars such as Jermaine Defoe, Joe Cole and Alexander Farnerud.

Lyngby BK are proud that we over 20 years have been able to implement our contribution to talent development - despite economic challenges along the way.

Many of the players in this year's tournament will in a few years become known and recognized - history tells us so.

It is this history, Kim Lyshøj started - and it is this story we would like to continue for many years to come.
